Crisis Breeds Ingenuity

“For three years we’d been discussing remote working and got no-where with it. Within 24hrs of lock down being announced we were able to have everyone sorted with equipment and working from home.” Said one of our clients.
Home schooling is now in operation for the majority, not the minority.
Ventilators have been produced in record time, adapting scuba mask designs amongst others.
I am sure you can think of many other examples of ingenuity or quick adaptation in light of the ongoing pandemic crisis. We’ve all had to adapt our lives in so many ways.
Crisis breeds ingenuity.
We are highly creative beings and often give of our best in times of challenge. It is this ability to adapt, see and seize opportunities that will ensure your continued success.
The opposite of Post-Traumatic Stress is Post-Traumatic Growth.
Learning and growth continue once we move beyond the primitive instinct of our stress response.
We all enjoy a little uncertainty in our lives; it’s what gives us a thrill, a different experience, some variety in life. But too much and our instinctual stress response is triggered as it has been in this current crisis.
Suddenly we sense danger and react with one of three stress responses; fight, flight or freeze. Sometimes we might even cycle through all three!
Sensing danger, or feeling fearful is neither good nor bad.
It just is.
Use the moment to come back to your awesome self.
The funny thing about uncertainty is that people often try to eliminate it. But you can’t.
The key is to understand your response instead of trying to eliminate the uncertainty.
Help yourself and others move to acceptance of what is, and you’ll be quicker to adapt and see new opportunities that might bring a suitable gain.
What have you noticed during this time?
Nature seems to be adapting rapidly to the break from industrial pollution, and the quiet neighbourhoods.
There are so many things to be grateful for right now, and it is this attitude of gratitude that will help bring calm and connect you with your intuition. Be guided to see what is possible and make a decision to move forward without dwelling on what once was.
Make your business relevant to what is going on today. Business is all about people, so have conversations, find out what is really going on for your clients and where you can help solve a problem they are currently facing.
Train yourself to see opportunities.
Be aware that as human beings we are much more likely to take risks to avoid a possible loss. But look for the risks that might bring a suitable gain.
Be willing to be you and show up despite feeling vulnerable.
We actually benefit from acute stressors much more than chronic stressors; we get stronger. Think about how weight lifting works in building muscle – you build muscle from using ever increasing weights rather than using a lower weight and lots of repetition.
There will be more adaptation and ingenuity that will arise from this whole experience. See yourself as that highly creative, ingenious being you truly are:
Forget about your complaints – focus on your gratitude
Forget about what’s missing – focus on what’s available
Forget about your difficulties – focus on your progress
Great learning comes from these times, and you are probably learning something really precious about yourself right now.
Be still and listen to that inner wisdom 😊.
